The client had purchased a pair of inter-mediate terrace houses with the intention to re-built into then into 1 unit of multi-generational dwelling and SOHO at the basement. The main challenges for the project was the site as it was located adjacent to the future N-S Expressway tunnel and the ground water level was very high. The structural and geotechnical requirements translated into a heavily engineered basement system which we carried up as architectural language and expression for the super-structure of the house. Due to the substandard length of the plots, we introduced voids adjacent to the shared parti-wall to bring in light and ventilation.
