The main challenge was to accommodate 7 bedrooms for a large family within a tight site and still make the interior spatially interesting. The client has 4 young children and part of the design brief was to have the interiors easy to maintain with a lot of hidden storage space. The main space was the narrow atrium which contained the steel staircase that linked the front and rear of the house. In order to save space, the front and rear of the house were designed as split levels. The steel joinery were painted in black to contrast with the white walls.

The elevation of the house was a result of the internal programmes

The black metal stairs became the central feature of the narrow atrium space

The finishes for the Master bathroom was kept in monochromatic colours

Full height glass windows at the roof terrace were used to bring in sunlight

Skylight to view stars at the 3rd storey Family Area

The dog leg staircase is skewed to give the central space dynamism

The attic study have external views to both sides of the house
